Great...this should really be good for discipleship and spiritual formation.....
The New Bible that can be read in 100 minutes.
Why?
Publishers the 100-Minute Press say the book has been written for those who want to know more about Christianity but who do not have the time to read the original in full.
I mean, really! Who has time to read the Bible! Just give me the snippets...the good stuff!
What are we doing?

I'll tell you what, if you don't have time to read the bible... (I should be careful and not condemn myself with what I say here)
Well, we all just need to make time for certain things, and reading the Bible is one of them. Of course, if I could get Barth in 100 minutes...

For real. I can guess what supporters of this product would say-- people in our culture are crazy busy and we have to reach them. We have to adjust to the market.
Really? I see it this way- the Church has both a prophetic voice and a priestly voice. We've been doing great with the priestly voice, soothing the wounds and dislocations engendered by modernity and sending our people back into the fray. We've got programs and books and seminars for EVERYthing that hurts.
But what happened to the prophetic voice? Why not call the very structures and conditions of modernity (or hyper-modernity) into question? If social forces incline us to live crazy lives that wound us, instead of living lives of wisdom that help us flourish, why not speak prophetically against those social forces?
Of course some (many? most?) will blow off the Church's prophetic pronouncements, but the Gospel has always been for those who have ears to hear.
