BBC Newsflash....

Founder of Taize Christian Ecumenical community is stabbed to death.

I found this linked over at Andrew Jones.

I had always planned on visiting Taize, but never seemed to get around to it. I know the experience of my friends who had stayed there, was truly life-changing for them.

This is truly shocking. Wow. There was a whole generation of pivotal people of that generation that have died in the last 10 years or so: Brother Roger, JPII, Henri De Lubac, and Yves Congar. Those are guys I wish I could have met. Real heroes. Of them, Brother Roger is the only one to die so violently (though JPII came close). Very sad.

On a happier note, maybe one of these days we can get a group together to go to Taize. That would be a cool trip for a bunch of us to do.

I've been to Taize twice, and this is truly sad news. I had the privledge of being blessed by him one night, the year after 9/11. He was such a gentle man, full of love. It's truly sad.
